What We Do<\/h3>\n
33 Forever was created by merging the skills, abilities, passions and hopes of Dani\u2019s family and friends \u2014 using the resources from those individuals and organizations to positively impact this critical health crisis. This wealth of human and other resources is being further utilized to garner and grow the support, input and direct assistance of experts in the relevant fields \u2014 medical, psychological, educational, legal, non-profit, financial, technological \u2014 and to both raise awareness and promote action about mental health and well-being by policymakers, community leaders and practitioners, as well as those affected by these conditions and their loved ones.<\/p>\n

Our Story<\/h3>\n
Our organization, 33 Forever, Inc., was founded by the family and friends of Danielle Leedy, a vibrant, strong professional young woman, who lost a long battle to chronic depression in February of 2019. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to both honor Dani\u2019s life and her longtime passion to raise awareness, empower and comfort those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-worth issues and suicidal thoughts.<\/p>\n
Specifically, 33 Forever\u2019s goal is to positively impact the lives of all those affected by depression, anxiety and their related disorders, including suicidal thoughts. The organization provides hope and help and promotes awareness, engages in advocacy, provides educational programming and resources, supports research efforts and establishes and encourages community support.<\/p>\n

The American Psychiatric Association also notes that depression affects an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) in any given year. One in six people (16.6%) will experience depression at some time in their life. Depression can strike at any time, but on average, first appears during the late teens to mid-20s. <\/span><\/p>\nWomen are more likely than men to experience depression. Sharing The Struggle<\/h3>\n
With all this said and with it all too common, why then do we not talk about it more? According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) website, there are many reasons someone with depression may decide not to share their struggles \u2014 they don\u2019t want to burden others, they may be worried they will have negative consequences in their jobs, they don\u2019t want to appear \u201cweak\u201d or they just don\u2019t want to be judged or treated differently.
